We are The Large Munsterlander Club

The LMC is dedicated to ensuring the future of the breed and aims to promote responsible dog ownership. Like-minded individuals and families are invited to come together and share their common interest - the Large Munsterlander.

We are here to represent the best interests of our breed and build a community for owners to thrive.

The current LMC Rules & Codes, which came into effect on 22nd December 2023, are below.

Our purpose

Made up of likeminded people who are passionate about the longevity of the breed, our aim is to ensure we are creating a community that can thrive in the years ahead, united by the same passion: the Large Munsterlander.

The LMC management committee is made up of three ex-officio officers and a committee of no more than 14 members.

Our aims, as set out in our rules are:

a) To protect the type of Large Munsterlander that has proved eminently suitable for work

b) To promote the health & welfare, breeding and exhibition of pure Large Munsterlanders conforming to the Standard of the breed as adopted by The Kennel Club

c) To encourage field trials

d. To support, encourage and advise new and prospective Members

Originally from Brixham in Devon, I spent 33 years in the Royal Navy and was based at RNAS Culdrose in Cornwall from 1999 to when I retired in 2015. I am now settled in Cornwall with my partner Lynn, where I continue to work at RNAS Culdrose as a Civil Servant.
It’s a long story.......having had four English Setters since 1985, in 2004 we re-homed a young rescue dog Guinness (because he was Black and white and came from Dublin... simples). As he matured it was pretty clear that he wasn’t an English Setter, I became convinced he was a Large Munsterlander and joined the Club, so our journey and love of Large Munsterlanders started. In April 2014 Buffy came to stay and a year later so did Brian. We were encouraged to show puppy Brian and started late in 2015. We both enjoy it immensely and have travelled far and wide (no option living in Cornwall ) to attend Open and Championship shows. Last year Brian sired a litter and we now have his son, Barry, too. I joined the Committee as we came out of Lockdown and now find myself in the role of Acting Chairman, very much looking forward to giving something back to the Breed and Club through being part of an energetic, positive and progressive team.

I live in Somerset with my husband Robin and our 3 LMs, Marta, Motson and Mimi. I have had LMs (5) for 15 years. I joined the LM Club when we had our first one in 2008 and the Committee in April 2022.
I have done a little of everything with our LMs, including working (both Marta and Mimi passed their Gundog Club HPR Grade 1 test, Mimi attends regular gundog training and Marta went on her first shoot last season) showing, breeding, agility, scent work, Hoopers, Rally and bog snorkelling, which says a lot about our wonderful breed’s versatility. Not forgetting of course long walks 365 days of the year and enjoying their company and antics as part of our family.
LMs are my absolute passion; this is why I joined the Committee. I want to be part of a team to proactively promote and protect the health, welfare and breed standard of our unique, wonderful and versatile breed and to engage with all LM owners be it working, showing, pet or other activities.
I believe all of us who own LMs, past owners, and perhaps those waiting to get one, share this same passion so I hope we can all come together to ensure the love of our breed is at the heart of everything we do.

I joined the LMC four years ago after acquiring our first (and only so far) Munster. Cathy, my wife, and I have had dogs for decades, all Springers, but after losing a special girl we literally discovered Munsterlanders at Discover Dogs in London, and have not looked back since. I love the zest for life that gundogs have, it gives me energy and fun and sometimes a good dose of humility. With many other commitments and little spare time, our Munster Pepper is "just" a pet, but a fundamental part of our family mandating lots of walking in the Chiltern Hills, or any hills for that matter! I enjoy running so naturally Pepper and I join forces for Canicross most weeks - which she absolutely loves.

I joined the LMC Committee at the last AGM, understanding that the team needed more boots on the ground to help keep the club doing all it does for the breed and owners. I have a lot to learn, but with the support of a great committee, that should be fun, and I very much look forward to helping the club progress.

The Caile family have lived with a Large Munsterlander or two, now on our sixth since 2001 and we have been members of The Large Munsterlander Club for the whole of that time. I joined the Committee in 2021 with a special interest in the health and welfare of the breed and also to encourage inclusivity for all Large Munsterlander owners. I am a Kennel Club Assured Breeder and breed the occasional litter under the Kamaze affix. I enjoy working and showing our dogs as well as running Canicross in the countryside of West Dorset.

My name is Erin Logie and I am the show secretary and one of the proud committee members of the Large Munsterlander club. I have been a member of the committee for over a year now but have been around the breed my entire life.
I have been involved in this breed for as long as I can remember as I was born into it as my parents got their first LM in 1995 and I came along in 1998!
I have shown the breed all over the UK since I was 5 years old and have had great success in the YKC ring when I was a member and in the breed ring too winning multiple CC’s and best of breeds and making up several UK champions which I am extremely proud of.
I now have my own affix ‘Albadhu’ with the kennel club and have now also been involved in breeding large Munsterlanders since 2010.
At home we have 5 large Munsterlanders Delta, Star, Echo, Scout and Koda, who completely take over our lives! As much as I enjoy showing our Munsterlanders spending time with them out on long country walks and cuddling into them on the sofa is the best thing about having these dogs!
I absolutely love being a part of the LMC committee helping to organise events and promote our breed as much as possible, it is wonderful to be a part of a team who all share the same passions and goals for our wonderful breed.
If anyone ever needs to get in touch my inbox is always open for any help and advice I can offer.

My husband Chris and I live in rural Shropshire. We had our first Munsterlander Willow in 2005. I have a kennel name of Crumpsbrook and love breeding the occasional litter. I enjoy showing and meeting up with other Munsterlander converts. We have 4 generations at home and I was fortunate enough to experience winning BOB at Crufts with Kite in 2022, a dream come true.
I would like to see the club be more inclusive for owners and to encourage high standards of health and welfare for the future of our gorgeous breed.

My love for this breed has been ongoing for over 16 years, since I welcomed my first Munsterlander home in early 2007. Since then I have been privileged to own five munsters, including one from my homebred litter in 2017. I have enjoyed showing, gundog training, scentwork, agility, mantrailing, hoopers and countless long walks with my dogs and am a firm believer in the truly versatile nature of this wonderful breed.

Hi, I’m Jack and based in West Yorkshire. I have had my Large Munsterlander Walt since November 2020 and I haven’t looked back. I show Walt and do some gundog work with him, recently taking part in some working tests. As someone who was a complete novice to both showing and working, id love to get as many people as possible involved in both and show people that you really can start as a complete beginner!

I first became owned by a Munster in 1995. Agility was my main passion but  I did some showing to fill in time till she was old enough to train. Got bitten by the showing bug and here we are 28 years later still showing and also breeding under our Albadhu affix. We currently have 5 munsters and 3 Pembroke corgis - blame Erin for those! Love the breed and hope to be able to help the best I can.

We got our first Munster 10 years ago and what a life changing event that was! We welcomed our second one five years later and are totally hooked. I love the versatility of the breed and their work ethic - they will just give anything a go! Our first Munster has excelled in sled dog sports and they both love giving anything a go! I have a strong desire to help Munster owners find access to the range of sports and activities they can enjoy together and hope to help through being a committee member to do so!

My love for Large Munsterlanders began over 20 years ago when I met the breed at Crufts Discover Dogs. Since then I have had the pleasure of living with 5 generations of this fabulous breed. With my Munsterlanders I have enjoyed new activities including; gun dog training, doing a natural aptitude test and more recently dog agility together with Munster's prime function of cuddles and affection. I have recently joined the committee to support the website bringing with me many years of professional experience working with a wide range of organisations and businesses.

We have been owned by Munsterlanders for over 15 years now, it’s probably going to be that way for a long time to come. I have competed with all my dogs for many years in obedience, scentwork, and the show world to name a few. I have also been a dog trainer at club level. I am always happy to talk about the different disciplines that we can do with this amazing breed and I am looking forward to my time on the Committee.
