Latest Progress Report from the Animal Health Trust

The March 2009 update from the Animal Health Trust on their research into hereditary cataracts in LMs has been added to the site.

Previous updates:  July 2008,  October 2008

Thank You

Several members undertook fundraising at the Large Munsterlander Club’s 25th Anniversary Championship Show on June 6th 2009.  88 ‘Goodie Bags’ were sold raising over £400 which will go directly towards the Animal Health Trust’s current research into Hereditary Cataracts in our breed.  Don’t forget to complete the quiz for a chance to win £150!

The Club will also donate 50% of the proceeds from the raffle on the day to the Animal Health Trust.

Thank you to everyone who supported this project and the LMC raffle.

Reminder

Can I please ask all the members who have received further DNA swab kits from the Animal Health Trust to return them as soon as possible.

Now that we are being looked at as an individual breed, they can’t investigate further until they have the new samples.

In the current climate with health issues being at the forefront of peoples minds, it is important for the breed to be seen to take these issues seriously.

Thanks for your co-operation on this matter.

New Health Sub-committee

We are committed to the overall health and soundness of the Large Munsterlander and to inspiring an atmosphere of openness within the club

where people can freely discuss any health problems that have occurred with their dogs without fear of blame or criticism.

We have a new health sub-committee. These are not empty posts.

This new sub-committee will be meeting at least three times a year to discuss issues & collate information.

Further pages on hip scoring, eye testing & elbow scoring will hopefully be added shortly.

Any correspondence regarding health issues should be addressed to Clare Mossop
